well...if i was in a ralio, i wouldnt use a mk2 escort...simply because everyone has them, and i dont want to be a sheep and bum them like evryone else :L

id go for a swift, or a polo...something light, revvy and nippy, not a big ole barge like mk2 escort, or something similar! yes they may look fooking awesome hanging the arse out, but thats not going to get u to the marshall points any quicker! just my 2p though...id rather see a well set up light car keeping speed round the bends, rather than wallowing round em...also...what looks fast isnt neccaserily(spelling) fast...some of the slower looking cars ar more often than not quicker, as they can hold it through thru the bends at a constant speed, rather than speeding up, slowing down, speeding up, slowing down etc

TL:DR - scrote mk2's are over-rated highly expensive machines, same with skylines, mk iv supras and in fact most jdm's

Skylines can actualy be picked up quite cheap, and supras have a super tunnable engine which means performance/ cost they are pretty well footed. Bear in mind that these cars probibly cost like £40-£50k when they were released, then the monies you can pick one up for isnt actualy that bad.

Mk2 escorts, they are a very old car with low power, not ggreat looks imo and tbh are pretty crap in standard trim. There is no standard performance there compared to other machines, so the cost vs performance is pretty low.

Negative, I have a banging headache and too much crap to do in work in too short a space. Also got arsey with an auditor for Lloyds TSB so thats probibly going to come back and bite me in the arse!

At the end of the day, the only reason I dont like mk2 escorts is because of the people that bang on about how they are amazing and nothing comes close to them. I always like it when you get something unexpected turning up and doing really well.. Like the diesel merc that was pwning drift cars.

Barges? There no bigger than an astra vxr! And you must consider parts availabiliy, I like all of the cars you suggested, but how many motorsport companies cater for them? (something you'd have to consider, I mean there's west wales rally spares, historic rallysport etc so parts are widely available). Oh and sith, I am no hambon, the link shoes what did well in an event, all the top cars went sideways a hell of a lot, didn't seem to do them any harm time wise (I mean going sideways does slow you down, but this lot can obviously afford to sacrifice a bit of time having fun)

I still know what I'd rather use, I have spoken to many competiyiors and seen numerous interviews with plenty of people who have competed in many cars throught the years, they all mention how they enjoy competing in the escort. They can't all be wrong, and if I have to find video proof I will.

Me too! I'm broke and have no job trying to find a garage willing to take me on as an apprentice and been to 28 of them and still found fuck all! Going to see a careers advisor tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Yep, I am also broke and have a wedding to pay for and a third baby due at the end of the year, arrrgggggggg!!! I also still have a hole in the bathroom ceiling from when I went through it about 6 months ago (ok, boarded up but not plastered or anything).
