PostSubject: electric fan! - blow me away!   Fri Feb 25, 2011 3:59 am

im looking at deleting my viscous engine fan as it restricts my engine of a few little hp. i kno its not a lot but every horsie counts!

so electric fan it is, i kno the basics of wiring the fan up to a switch but i want to wire it up to my thermostat so it cuts in automaticaly without me having to worry.

how do i go about doing this, has anyone done it before and have u got a diagram or anything to help me, pretty please Smile

Ha, someone in work just did this on his dicovery with a double fan, which is optional on, off or thermostat on each seperatly.

Really, when you buy a fan kit it should come with some sort of thermostat, normaly one that you can push in the find of the raidiator so it will turn on the fan.

Other way around it is if your thermostat is electric, I assume it is on/ off signal from it? You just wire it up to a relay so the small on/off from the thermostat turns on a larger power source to operate the fans.

ai depends if the thermostat is electric or not

or easiest way, use this...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-Radiator-Cooling-Fan-Thermostatic-Switch-/220682601798?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3361b54546

just plumbs into the top hose and can be set to the temp you want
