PostSubject: Speedo Sensor   Sun Mar 13, 2011 11:05 pm

Hey guys, got yet another problem with my Astra. It's a MkIV 1.7 Dti and last year I managed to get caught up in a flood. Since then, from time to time the speedo has been intermittent when it's running cold so I'm thinking it might be the flood damage that got to the sensors. If the problem gets any worse, does anyone know how easy/hard it'd be to put a new set of sensors in?

as easy as undoing one sensor from the gearbox and replacing it Smile

may want to check the wiring and earth for the dash, any of the other gauges playing up?

forgive me as i dont know exactly how vauxhalls read road speed, but if you have ABS, i have known some vehicles to have an extra sensor on one wheel for the speedo.

on the NSF wheel of my Golf, it had two sensors reading from the ABS rings, where as all the other wheels only had one...
And i know an MG-ZS reads from one of the rear wheels

if thats the case i'd check the distance between the sensor and the ring, usually about a mm or so.
