| As i'm sure many of you may already know, I recently bought a 306xsi from our very own 'Sith' and yes mickey, that is how it's spent half of it's time on my yard since getting it... ! So it's survived Ollie, question is, have Peugeot built a car and running gear strong enough to survive..ME! From the very first moment I saw the car after the bidding ended on eBay, i knew this was gonna be quirky to own, as no sooner had we jump-started it, it decided to try and idle at 2000 revs for 5-10 mins oh and for some un-be-known reason, it decided to try winking at people, by flashing it's passenger headlight As with any car sat for months, doing next to nothing, things like brakes needed re-bedding in. A varied drive back from llangrannog to lampeter was on the cards The winking problem was quickly fixed once i'd gotten home by opening the fusebox, and pulling one of the relay's out After that it was a trip to carmarthen to enjoy my new toy. Things were fine for a day or two, then a strange miss-fire slowly cropped it's head up. Which was quickly cured by a removal of the coil pack, inspection of the spark plugs, squirt of 2-in-1 oil into the coil pack stems, clean-up and re-fit. "Great!" until it came back a few days later, and has gotten progressively worse as time has gone by. More and more fiddling went on to try and get to the root of the problem, until today when i sought further help on a dedicated 306 forum. I hopped outside with my digital camera to take a few snaps of my setup, where i noticed the following misdemeanour's Coil pack: but wait a minute....! Thats not good! Thats definitely not good: Dont like the look of that either: Spot the difference: So in my conclusion I'm in need of a coil pack, judging by the corrosion in picture 008, it's been giving up for a while. Apart form that, and the judder of brakes (suspect sticky calliper) it's a hoot to drive, and when the miss-fire clears it's pretty quick to be fair. Not looking forward to the next month however, as it's Tax & MOT Time. In the mean time i've added some items to the list to make it my own, starting off with: I'm also toying with the idea of GTi-6 front brakes, Crystal headlights, Cyclone alloys etc amongst other things the roof will eventually see a spraygun. Thats all for now folks | |

Should be a quick cheap fix though? I curse you everytime it miss-fires mick', if you handt have said anything.... Yeah hopefully mate - Sith wrote:

Nuts aint it! i think the split stem was my bad, cos it certainly wasn't like that previosly. I've also modded the coilpack by removing that ridiculous cover from it, makes re-inserting it pi55 easy now, just plops in - asbo wrote:

its more boring than watching paint dry I like em Si', when i eventually find a set close enough to me, for the righ money, they're going on unless i can find some Superturismo's or something of the sort. I'm really picky with my own wheels, so feel free to make suggestions, but please dont be offended if i say no, ok mate - Sith wrote:

I thought i was gonna loose it othe other day, fixed the miss-fire (temporarily) took the kidwelly rd out of carmarthen, turned left onto the Llanelli / pontyberem rd, car was pulling strong up through the 'box then came up to the Left turn for Crwbin / bancffosfelin at like 60 odd, wrong side of the road, and then turned in. Corner was a bit sharper then i thought and felt the back-end twitch whilst i was calculating where i was gonna come off the road. Fear not, 306 is in one piece and rewarded by returning the miss-fire | |
