old m20 engine out...

gearbox off new m50 engine...

m20 gearbox top, m50 gearbox bottom (m20 gearbox will be used as its smaller and fits direct to propshaft coupling

m20 clutch friction disc top, m50 clutch friction disc lower (m20 friction disc will be used as this mates to m20 gearbox)

m50 engine with m20 gearbox attached...

new propshaft donut required though!...

Coming on nicely, roundabouts are going to become a lot morefun with those extra horses.

123bhp before, new lump is 150bhp when fitted with cats... which sparkie won't and will have pipercross filter, so realistically should have 155 or so, plus sparkie old lump had done a fair few more hard miles than this one...

Are the e30 and e34 diff the same ratio?

different ratio diff but that not changing as completly different fitment, new engine is 6 cylinder 24v instead of 6 cylinder 12v

also no viscous..+3 bhp!

firstly simples.... cast manifolds off and drop the old oil...


pile of useless crap off m50 lump...


usefull stuff i find lying about, pair of new m50 manifold gaskets and e28 m535 engine mounts...


brake servo.. too big, p/s resevoir in the way and these brackets are just not used so all is being rejiggered...


new bits from tanygroes...e39 525i tubular manifolds and 325i engine mounts and manifold brackets...


manifolds modifed and on as are engine brackets...


just waiting on propshaft donut and oil filter and i can drop her in!

is it worth wrapping the mani while its off...i know its better on turbod cars to keep exhaust temps up but what about NA applications...cant do harm i spose??
