right, an idea!

a charity run over the course of a week in the middle of next summer, doing topgear style challenges and raising money for charity, while having a laugh at the same time

2 people per car

max budget is £500 for a car, must be taxed and moted

will sort forms out for donations etc, but the basic, rough idea atm is:

raise charitable donations from now till whenever date we decide on

use the first 500 or whatever the car cost on a car and rest goes to charity, so u think, 2 people, its 250 each to raise over a good few months!

we do the run, doing top gear stlye challenges so say we left aber at X time on X date and headed for santa pod, we could go via EVO triangle, then up to santa pod, camp the night then spend the day doing i dno, a 0-60 challenge, quickest 1/4 mile, then move onto somewhere new.



at the end of the run, we can sell the cars however way we want, and that money goes to charity too



if we can get publicity then we could do fundraising in the areas we go to aswell

we can get stickers made up for th cars/donations sheets etc



this is just a rough idea atm, so feel free to add/expand on ideas,



we want EVERYONE who can to be involved in this, so put your names down and give us some ideas!

theres no point worrying about a car till closer to the time, atm we need to be designing a webpage sorta thing, a decent name we can use, design a logo and get some donation forms made up.

please remember though, i know times are hard, but any money you do raise ISNT yours, and you will be reported for theft, i think maybe i should have the cash and a running tally of whos given what so we know its not going anywhere!

laugh all u want, at least some people are trying to make an effort, and run ideas past people, rather than just moaning about how shit the forum is and how we all fallen apart etc

Fundraising is [currently] a very difficult, yet rewarding process.
It's a good feeling to hit the targets you aim for, but be prepared for ignorant, rude, self obsessed people along the way.

I have a question though, will it be one Charty for all participants, or individuals choosing their own? as one person might have [had] a relative suffer with cancer, while another may prefer to choose Heart Foundation etc.

Also, there are certain rules and regulations involved in fundraising, it's best to work closely with your chosen charity to ensure you are within the law. E.G Door-to-Door fundraising / collections actually need to be licenced.

Chris - your already on the right track as far as i can see. Publicity needs to be maxmised, with as close to zero costs as possible.
Id also imagine some people would be inclined to use their own cars, myself especially, cost me less then 300 quid, close to 200k on the clock, and currently popped an alternator, i need parts before i could even get out of carmarthen LMAO!


Rhodri - Vodafone txt thing sounds like a plan, less hassle for supporters. People hate paperwork, plus i'd imagine that any donations via the txt system would go directly to the charity. Thus avoiding any posibility of funds going walkies, but it does mean it'll be difficult to cream off some of it towards event costs. http://www.justgiving.com/justtextgiving

If people dont want to txt, might i suggest a 'justgiving' page (http://www.justgiving.com/about-us/how-it-works/for-fundraisers) as far as i can recall this is totally free

I know this is all very early days at present, and it'll be genuinely interesting to see how this unfolds.

If anyone has any ideas etc, please bring them to the 'table' and we'll go from there.

when did i ever complain that the forum was shit and that nobody makes effort? the only threads to that nature are yours crease.

The charitys will be chosen by the drivers, for the exact reason you mention!

a for keeping money safe, i have said that i could keep all the donations, with a list of whos given what, in the safe at work, that way we know its all safe, and nobodys dipping when they shouldnt be!

if you want to use your own car, then thats fine, u dont have to sell it after, this was just an idea, i think im gna get another car though, something just to thrash silly for a week!
