| For me yes it was the best choice, the 130 is not much more grunt and tends to cost up to a grand more, the 150 was straight out because of reliability too. when you do the maths and are buying for economy, everything points to the 115. | |

| chocolate cams? whats that then? im sure ive read somewhere that the 150s are the same as the 130s but have a smaller intercooler so they respond better to tuning, how true this is i dont know, and from what u all have said then it certainly looks wrong!! ur all grown men, im sure you know what your doing though! but tbh, i always thought a bigger engine, if driven sensibly was more fuel efficient than a smaller engine driven in the same style, for instance... a 1300 doing 70 on the motorway in 5th may be sat at 3500 rpm, but a 2000 doing 70 on the motorway in 5th may be sat at say 2500, so using less revs and saving fuel, same sorta thing on normal driving, more grunt & low down power to get up hill and stuff rather than having to cog down and give it some welly to get up there? is that theory or does it work in practice too? | |

| chocolate cams, prone to breaking,
You need a certain amount of power to push a car through the air along the road at a certain speed, a 1300 will need to rev high to generate that much torque, where as a larger engine doesn't have to rev as high to generate the power, a lot of it comes into the torque too a larger engine will generate more torque at low revs than the little engine at the same revs.
Best fuel economy is usually achieved at 1750rpm
Gearing is set in the factories to correspond with keeping the car on decent power/accel/m-way depending on the car, the gti6 is geared very close, purely for acceleration and speed which makes it hard to cruise at low revs whilst maintaing decent speeds, where as in the bora the 6 speed box is designed so that motorway speeds are set in the ideal rev range for the economy.

its a different turbo and cam, there is a small manufacturing fault on most of them that puts uneven pressure on the cam causing it to crack, some of the older ones are fine tho pretty sure the 150 has bigger injectors too. but ye as said for economy id also go for the 115, but maybe a few choice mods to up the torque for said reasons

| I've never felt so ashamed of my 35mpg! Reckon its time to strip the interior, remove the spare whee, fit full carbon body panels (including the windscreen), fit narrow wheels with low friction tyres, get a diffuser and flat floor made up, put mountain bike brakes on it to lower unsprung weight and sacrifice a cople of ribs, a kidney and a lung. After that I may be a tad closer. | |

| carbon windscreen? and i wouldn't worry about you mpg's, your car isn't meant to be an economy motorway tool? | |
